Unless you want to be stuck in (near) silence, you’ll need to investigate the issue. Usually, when the volume and other buttons stop working, you can replace the batteries and be good to go. 1. Change the Batteries in Roku Remote
We mentioned changing batteries at the outset, but it’s an essential first step if your Roku remote volume isn’t working. Make sure you have a fresh set of AA batteries—swap them out in the remote and see if the volume rocker starts working.

2. Clean Your Volume Buttons
The volume buttons could be dirty if you’ve had the remote for several years. Check the volume and other buttons on your Roku remote to make sure they’re free of dirt or grime that’s stopping them from working.
Use a mild cleaner such as wet wipes to clean the remote and buttons. You might also need a paperclip to get the residue out of the small spaces between buttons. Once you clean up the remote, verify the buttons aren’t stuck and see if the volume starts working.

Typically, one of the options above will fix the problem if your Roku remote volume isn’t working. Most of the time, a quick battery swap will get it working, but it isn’t guaranteed.
